… is also known as the Barcelona Natural History & Science Museum. Located in the Forum Building, and known as Museu Blau de les Ciències Naturals, it is an architectural landmark in Barcelona designed by the Swiss architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron (Herzog & de Meuron). The Barcelona Zoology Museum was relocated from it’s original location at Parc de la Ciutadella to the Forum Building in 2011. Equally as impressive in a completely different way, the original Castell dels Tres Dragons sits majestically on the edge of the park, overlooking the grounds. Although I would have loved to see this museum inside its original location, I absolutely loved the presentation of its contents in the new space. All the colours, textures & details of the animals & specimens really stood out within the mostly black, sleek, modern environment. It was such a contrast and unique approach compared to many traditional natural history museums. As a fan and avid visitor of natural history museums, this ranks amongst my top favorites for originality.
